Moving along...

When I was a kid my parents moved a lot, but I always found them. ~Rodney Dangerfield
Well I moved recently. I packed up all my stuff, or 'crap' if you ask my mother, and moved to a new house. It wasn't difficult. Most of my things are easily packed away into large plastic tubs and cardboard boxes. I can normally make quick work of it. But I think it's because I've practiced this many, many times. Apparently, I move a lot. So much so that I wondered how many times I had lugged all my crap… er… stuff around in the last few years? Or better yet, since I was kid?' So I started counting and ran out of fingers AND toes. 26. Holy crap. I had to count again to be sure, but the number remained the same. That IS a lot. Of course a child rarely moves anything larger than a plastic Godzilla and Etch-A-Sketch. With that in mind I counted only the number of moves I made since 'leaving the nest,' so to speak, and the total changed to twenty-one. That is still a lot, especially for 17 years. Plus, the moving encompassed eleven different cities and towns as well. What prompted so many moves? It varied. Mostly it was family need, which I promptly made a 'get-out-of-there' move as soon as the need was no longer present. I can say that I've never really tired of it. I enjoy experiencing the sights and sounds of new places. While vacationing for a week in New York City, I knew I could live there as well. It had a certain vibe and life to it that impressed me. The city didn't care where the sun was; it refused to sleep. Now the question is, will I move again? And does anyone else share this desire, or curse, of constantly shifting your worldly possessions from one location to another? Is there someone who can claim more moves and cities than I? My family always moved a lot as my Dad & Granddaddy were dragline operators. My Dad was Clifford Parker, my Grandaddy was Dick Parker,he had a brother named Luther and lived in Dyersburg in the 1940's. My parents divorced & I didn't see my Dad's side of the family anymore.
So now I would like to hear from the Parker's, if they will contact me (Lola Parker) at lola77901@hotmail.com, I sure would appreciate it.
By the way, I'm 69, so please hurry!
Hmm... I counted mine. Fifteen times in my life. If I move again, it will be to the mortuary.
