The Advocate
Life has been pretty relaxed at the Alley Casa. We Catholic Christians officially finished up Easter two Sundays ago. Our last day of Easter is called Pentecost Sunday. Living in the deep South when you hear the word Pentecost you think of the Penecostal denomination. In my small little town there are several Pentecostal churches. I have grown up with several people who are Pentecostal. I have taught students who attended Pentecostal churches. The denomination has a deep affiliation with the Holy Spirit which is exactly what happened at Penecost, the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles. The Trinity was completed. As Jesus ascended the Holy Spirit descended down to earth to become our advocate. The Holy Spirit is always among us and in us.
Several years ago one of my best friends and I were talking about the Trinity. I told her of the three I feel closest to the Holy Spirit. I do. All of the beauty in my life I feel is brought by the Holy Spirit. The gentle breezes, the colors of the seasons, and clouds wisping through the sky. I literally feel the Holy Spirit. Outside is where I feel it the strongest. I feel it nudge my heart and usher tears down my cheeks at communion. The Holy Spirit is so abundant many times it is overlooked. Students don't overlook it. Amid all the grief and destruction in our lives and our struggles seek out the Holy Spirit. It is our advocate given from above. It helps us to not only see, but be the good in the world. There is always work to be done whether you are in your youth or on your death bed. Just remember you are really never alone.

Quotes of the Day:
Will God ever ask you to do something you are not able to do? The answer is yes--all the time! It must be that way, for God's glory and kingdom. If we function according to our ability alone, we get the glory; if we function according to the power of the Spirit within us, God gets the glory. He wants to reveal Himself to a watching world.
Henry Blackaby
It is the Holy Spirit's job to convict, God's job to judge and my job to love.
