A New Year

Ah….2008 has arrived….a new year…..

Like a lot of people, I enjoy the arrival of a new year….yes, I enjoy the rituals of the new year like bowl games, and hog jowl and cabbage and black eyed peas….but there is much more than that.

I enjoy the start of a new year, because it gives you a chance to take a deep breath..reflect back the year just past, and yes, make some resolutions for the next 12 months period.

Do I make new year;s resolutions ? certainly….do I keep them ? well..does anyone truly keep all of the resolutions they set forth ?? probably not…but I do have good intentions of keeping them as the year begins…

Obviously I want year of good health..what am I willing to do to see that good health does occur for the next 12 months ? well, there is where it gets sticky…am I willing to eat right and exercise regularly, etc. etc….u-m-m-m…got to think about that.

I want to work hard and be successful in my job and I am certainly willing to do that.,,

I want to improve my golf and my averages for an 18 hole round..can I do that ? and am I willing to practice enough to shave a few strokes off per round…u-m-m- got to think about too !!

I want to be happy and worry less and not have undue stress…

I want our city and our county to prosper in the new year….

Can I add that I would like to see gas prices take a significant drop (well I can wish can't I ? ) and at the same time, I want someone to take a good long look at our traffic lights and maybe reconfigure the time from red to green (again..I can wish can't I?)…

I want our sports teams to fare well, and for our young athletes to enjoy playing their respective sports.

Oh gosh…there are so many, many things I want to see happen…too many to list or name…

I do want it to be a great year for us all..and for everyone to get along and for the bad news and the sadness to stay away…and for crime to disappear as well….

HAPPY 2008---can we all do our part to make it the best year ever in every single way ? Can we?

I would like to see the traffic light at Frank Maynard and East Court moved lock, stock, and barrel to Parr and Mall Boulevard.....................
