Students ready for the school year complying with dress code.
The purpose of this blog is to allow the school system an opportunity to keep the community informed of what is happening with students and schools. We welcome the community to become involved in our mission: "The mission of Dyersburg City Schools is to provide a safe, positive environment where all children can reach their full potential."
The following items are a few of the upcoming events taking place at Dyersburg Schools:
The program, "Camp EXCEL: Exciting, Challenging, Enriching, Learning," is scheduled for July 11- 22 for selected students at the Intermediate and Middle schools. The Primary school's program will be July 18 -- 22. This program allows for the opportunity to participate in engaging activities throughout the day while strengthening skills in language arts and math.
Dyersburg Primary School provides a program called "Super Why Reading Camp." The program will be in session from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Transportation to and from the camp will be the parents'/family's responsibility. A celebration will take place at the end of the camp for parents to visit the school and celebrate the students' accomplishments from camp week.
The Intermediate and the Middle school programs will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The focus of the programs will be activities involving math and language arts. Students will also be involved in enrichment activities every day and be provided snacks and lunch. Students who have perfect attendance through the week will be invited to attend special activities and field trips during the last Friday. Transportation will be provided for the Intermediate and Middle School students at pick-up and drop-off points. Pick-up times will begin at 7:15 a.m. and drop-off time will be around 2:45 p.m.
Early Registration will be held at the following times:
First day of school is scheduled for July 28 beginning at 8:00 a.m. Buses will run.
Dyersburg Primary School H.O.S.T is a program for community members to volunteer in tutoring reading to kindergarten students. Contact Sonja Tucker at DPS (286-3615) to volunteer your time.
New Dress Code A copy of the 2011-12 dress code is available on the school website: http://www.dyersburgcityschools.org, under School Board policies. Dyersburg City Schools is offering a one time program established to assist families in need as they transition to the new dress code. Families who need assistance may call Julie Norville at 286-3600 for the qualifications and information concerning the reduced price of shirts.
Dyersburg High School's Band Camp will be July 18 -- 22 beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Freshmen Orientation is scheduled for July 26 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Senior Pictures will be taken July 18, 19, and 20th.
