Beginning of the year news

The following information concerns the first day of school on Thursday, July 28, for the Dyersburg City Schools.

Primary School will have First Day Celebration from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 28. The buses will not run for DPS. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students and parents will register between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.; 1st grade students and parents may come between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.; 2nd grade students and parents register between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet the teacher, receive supply list, purchase supplies, and receive the usual registration forms.

First Day Celebration for the Intermediate School is from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Parents may bring their children to register during these times. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet the teachers, receive supply lists and other registration forms. Students may ride the bus to school and leave around 10:45 for the return ride home.

Middle School students' registration will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and buses will run on the regular times. Drop-off and pick-up of students for car riders will be different from previous years. All students will be dropped off in the front of the building in the mornings. Pick up of students will be with the 6th grade car riders being picked up in the front and the 7th and 8th graders picked up in the back of the school.

High school freshmen will have orientation Tuesday, July 26; from 5:30 p.m. -- 8:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to attend. Freshmen will practice going through an abbreviated schedule and meet their teachers. All other high school students will register on Thursday, July 28; from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Students may leave when registration is complete. Registration for all high school students includes $7 registration fee, schedules, lockers, IDs, yearbooks, and various forms. Lockers will be assigned as students register, so friends will need to go through registration line together. Students may purchase a student sports pass for $35 that will admit the DHS student to ALL home sporting events during the 2011-12 school year. These passes may be purchased during registration.
