I heard yesterday from a friend of mine whom I will not name (because if I mention his name, he demands royalties) about an interesting medical case in Australia. It seems that a poisoned Italian tourist was being treated--presumably intravenously--with medical-grade alcohol. The alcohol ran out, and doctors switched to a vodka drip in his feeding tube. The vodka (no word on the brand) did the trick. The patient survived the poisoning. It is still to be determined whether he will survive the hangover.

My friend was excited about this story because he feels that his health insurance should pay for his martinis. He now considers them "inoculations."
