On the road again...

I have gotten information through my vast grapevine of informants which might be of interest to some of the regular readers of this blog. (There are regular readers. For instance, I hear there is a middle school class in Botswana that is using it to learn English.)

Emerging country music star, Rudy Terwilliger, will be performing in the area this Saturday night. If you haven't heard of him, that is just because he hasn't fully emerged. His recordings such as "Ballad of the Headless Brakeman," "Poor But too Dumb to Know It" and "Wyoming Winter with You" have not yet broken into the charts, though he assures me that is just because the paperwork for getting into the charts is pretty complex and he still has some hit forms to fill out.

Rudy will be appearing at the Songbird Bistro, which is one block North of the Post Office in Ripley, this Saturday Night, July 12. For $15 you get a nice catfish dinner, plus the show. Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. Call 731-419-2492 for more information if you're looking for someplace to go this Saturday and it sounds like your cup of tea. (Really. It's a comedy show. This isn't a gag.)

I should note: It has been said that Rudy and I bear an uncanny resemblance to each other. Let me make it clear that we both find that equally insulting.

Here is a transcript of a telephone interview with Mr. Terwilliger which I conducted earlier today. I include it because the phone company is going to charge me for it anyway:

RUDY: Hello?

ME: Hello there. I want to talk to you a little about your music and--

RUDY: Hello?

ME: I said I'd like to discuss your music and your upcoming performance in Ripley.

RUDY: Hello?

ME: Well, it seems like there's some kind of problem with the phone.

RUDY: OK! Now I got you. I hear you fine, now.

ME: Great! I just wanted to ask you a little about this show you have coming up this Saturday at the Songbird Bistro in Ripley...[PAUSE] ...Rudy?

RUDY: Hello?

ME: OK. I guess we aren't going to be able to do the-

RUDY: Wait a minute! It's cleared up now.

ME: You sure? You can hear me now?

RUDY: Loud and clear.

ME: OK. Tell us a little about your show.

RUDY: Surely. Well, what I do is a little bit of-- [CLICK]

ME: Hello? Hello? [EXPLETIVE]
