Lets even out the playing field

With all the talk about steroid use in professional sports, why don't we even the playing field and tell all the athletes to go ahead and do them? Heck, they are grown men who make millions of dollars for playing a children's game and they should be able to make mature decisions. Do people come to a ball game to see a 1-0 game? More often than not, I would say not. Most people come to see the 500 ft. bomb that clears the light poles. They come to see the receiver get creamed when they come over the middle to catch a pass. I suspect most fans go to the golf course to see the 350 yard tee shots and soon we will probably see steroids in professional golf. This sells tickets and we all know that owners want people in seats. Do they really care about the player as a person? No they don't! They only care that the player performs each and every day so that the next game is a sellout. Of course, I don't really feel that they should be legalized but we all know that what is forbidden is all the more desired. I think the same number of players would do them and the sane ones, who care about life after sports, would leave them alone. The more I hear about performance enhancers, the more I think that the old timers were that much stronger and better athletes. Just think what Mickey Mantle would have done to a baseball if he were on steroids. On second thought, lets not level the playing field. Its nice to know that some of our heroes are still just doing it on talent alone.

Our modern day professional athletes are our modern day gladiators in the Roman Colesseum.......... at least we are civilized beyond the point of human sacrifice........ except for professional wrestling.......... the blood thirsty crowds like violence or the possibility of it..........
