Barry vs. everyone else

There has been a lot of talk about whether Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens should be elected to the Hall of Fame. Here is my angle on that. If you are an abrasive, self centered, conceited, brash, horses butt who thinks Baseball owes him something, you should not get in. Barry Bonds has always been the player most love to hate because of how he handles people. He won't respect anyone else and wants everyone to respect him. That makes my stomach hurt! Guess what? The game has always been, and always will be, bigger than you Mr. Bonds. The game was here before you and will be here after your gone so get off your high horse. For that reason I feel you should not get in.

On the other hand, Roger Clemens has always talked about those who came before him and how he appreciatted what they did for him. He gives back in the community and, for the most part, been an upstanding man in the community. He has, I am sure, had his moments just like anyone else but he is the poster boy for what hard work and dillegence can do for a career. Just like I said in an earlier blog, put everyone on the level playing field and see who is the best. It sounds like everyone was doing HGH and Steroids so let the "low side drag".

That being said and all things being equal I think it best for Baseball that Mr. Bonds not be in the HOF because he made his bed and should have to sleep in it. Just like Mom used to say "Be nice to people. You never know when they might have to save your butt!"

By the way Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame!!!!!!!

you join the hall of fame based upon the skill level at which you played at during your entire career. NOT how you acted towards anyone on or off the field. While my two favorite players are the best examples of how to play and be a role model (ripken jr and eddie murray) it is obvious Barry Bonds will and should be in the hall of fame based upon his skills as a player. Now if he were up for a humanitarian award, i'd vote against him.

Also i noticed that you leave out that Barry Bonds is a very charitable person, as well as roger clemens. (whom is the greatest pitcher of all time). Pete Rose on the other hand, was and is not a charitable person and was never nice to the media or fans. I think all 3 belong in the hall of fame, I am just pointing out the discrepancies in your article.

If Roger's name had come out at the same time as Barry's did.. would we hate Barry as much?

I'm glad to see the pressure's off Bonds's back for a moment, and squarely on Clemens. Roger deserves time in the hot seat. If you did 'roids, Roger, admit it like Pettitte. Everyone just said "shame" to Andy, and we've moved on.

Back to Barry:

Barry's number are HOF quality.

Almost 3,000 hits.

762 Home Runs.

Close to 2,000 RBIs.

Career .298 batting average.

THOSE, are HOF numbers. If you want to play the asterisks game, that's fine... but also put them next to Roger's Cy Young awards.

Underlying to all this, is Ol' Pete. If current players are going to get in after the 'roid ruckus, then maybe we should revisit the Pete Rose issue again as well.

Stan Musial, Red Schoendiest, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Kenny Boyer........... they required no asterisks or apologies....... they were MEN................
