Fool me twice...

Indiana University hired Kelvin Sampson to coach their basketball team. Indiana is a storied program with national championships and a large, nationwide, following. Their fans are crazy for their team and pack the arena every night. The revenue this program generates is huge. With this is mind why, in the world, would the athletic director persue and hire Sampson. He was already accused of making improper phone calls to recruits while he was at Oklahoma. Hello!!!! What did you expect to happen? Leopards don't change their spots. Now they have to make a decision and probably fire him. This nevers seems to amaze me that college and professional teams will hire someone, that is in trouble or has not had success, where they are and they think they will somehow change and become an upstanding citizen or become John Wooden. Don't get me wrong, some of these hires do work out and they just needed a new setting or better facilities but for the most part it is status quo. If I don't do my job as a teacher there are no other schools waiting for me to come to them and make more money. Once again the sports world is not the real world. Heck, Bret Tomko won 4 games last year and I think he signed a 4 million dollar contract with another team this year. I could win 4 games a year. Surely there would be 4 games against Toronto or the Cubs!!!!!
