Who would have thought

I have been watching a sporting event, lately, that has made me think about how other sports should be played. These players smile and hustle and even talk to their opponents. They constantly chatter for their teammates and continually pick each other up after a bad play or a weak hit that results in an out. Sometimes you cant tell who is winning or losing because both teams just look like they won the lottery. I saw someone get taken out of the game, on Monday, and it looked like she had just heard a funny joke on the way off the field. Don't get me wrong I like players who are intense but this is so refreshing to see. It is so widespread that it almost seems like it is a league wide rule to have as much fun as you can before the game is over. I love the way each and every player hustles to their positions and back. They look like they are in the 100 meter Olympic race. I am not exaggerating and if you have ever seen it you know what I am talking about. The sport I am talking about is NCAA Womens Softball. It has to be something that is taught because you don't see it very much locally. All I can say is "Bravo" and keep it up. I would try to do that in my teaching job but I am afraid they would think I really had gone off the deep end. It doesn't hurt to try and act like you are enjoying what you do though. I just never thought that a bunch of softball players would teach me what enjoying sports is all about.

It's funny you mention that. I was thinking the same thing the other day while watching some of the NCAA women's softball action. I mentioned to my wife and kids how refreshing it was to sport played in that fashion. In part I think it's a gender thing, because you see similar attitude expressed with volleyball and basketball.

LOL! Nice post. While reading it I thought you were going to tell us it was a Kiddie League of some sort.
