More Respect for Tiger

I have never been a Tiger Woods fan. I do respect what he does and how hard he works but I have never thought he showed much restraint, when he hit a bad shot, with his language. I know most other sports don't have microphones right in the athletes face but that is another subject. What I want to convey to you is how much more I respect him now than I did 3 days ago. We all know that he won the US Open with a torn ACL in his left knee. I knew that this was a Herculean feat but I feel that I underestimated how much of a feat it was until I hurt my left knee, on the course, this past Saturday. I do know what playing golf with pain is, after playing with a chipped bone in my right knee two years ago. That required major surgery but one can still play the game with an ailing right leg. The left knee is another story. All the torque and weight finishes on the left leg with a violent snap of the knee at the last second. I found out, very quickly, that it is very hard and painful when there is an injury to the left knee. My injury is just a tear to the meniscus, the padding between the bones in the knee. Although painful, it is nothing compared to the pain of a torn ACL. On top of that Tiger Woods swings a lot harder than I do and he played an extra round and then some. He also walked the course and I rode in a cart. He also beat the best players in the world. I beat, and lost, to some very good players but not US Open caliber. (Sorry guys) This only proves to me that he has the most mental toughness of any athlete I have ever seen. Anyone who has ever played golf knows the concentration it takes just to get the ball down the fairway let alone the precision it takes to navigate ones way around the toughest course in the world. Now just add in the fact that you know it is going hurt like heck when you swing. That is the most awesome part of it all. He was in excruciating pain after every swing. Kudos Tiger, I now have the utmost respect for you. Lets work on the language though.
