Where have you been Mr. Singletary? I have been waiting on a coach that is not afraid to ruffle the feathers of the spoiled bonus babies of the NFL. He sent Vernon Davis to the showers after he got flagged for a "stupid" penalty. He was apparently taunting one of the opposing players and was assessed a personal foul. This is the same player that received millions in bonuses before he ever played a down in the NFL. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of players that get lots of money and work extremely hard at what they do but there seems to be a trend of primadonas in professional sports. In Football it seems to be an epidemic with the receiver position. T.O., Plexico, Kellen (I know he's a tight end but he catches a ball sometimes) are all players that have had enough negative publicity that we know them by their first names or initials. It is usually caused by the players whining or banging their chest about something and it usually happens when their teams win without contributions from them. There are so many coaches in pro sports that walk on eggshells because they don't want to upset the star players. This has led to a change in power. Coaches, no longer, run the team. They are run by those in power and power comes from having more money right? I wish it wasn't like that but it is. If you have a player making 6 million, a year, and a coach that makes 1 million who has the power? You guessed it. The player. Or there is an owner that wants to meddle so much that the coach is always looking over his shouldersThere are only a few coaches left that I feel have control of their teams. Gruden and Fisher come to mind except that I think Fisher is more of a modern disciplinarian. By that I mean that he isn't afraid to get in someone's face like he did when Haynesworth stomped the Cowboy players head (he actually told him to go to the showers too), but Fisher seems to let more things go than he used to. I think he has more control of personnel moves than most coaches also. Now that I think of it those are the only two that I can think of right now. Sad isn't it!! Again thank you Mike Singletary for giving me hope that our sports teams can go in a positive direction. It is good to see that fire you had when you roamed the field and dished out punishment to those stupid enough to have the ball in their hands and go to the middle of the field. Keep it up and you might find a team that needs some direction more than the 49ers. The Bengals come to mind but who would want to work for their owner Mike Brown who keeps bringing back criminals. Stay where you are and make San Fran a winner and maybe you will be the highest paid employee.....who are we kidding.
