  • Solder Surprises Son in Newbern, Tenn. - April 18, 2014
    Chris Harrell of Newbern, Tenn. surprised his son Tallon on Friday, April 18, 2014, after not seeing him since September of 2013. Harrell is a member of the US Navy Reserve and was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan last year and has been there since that time. His wife Miranda and friends and family were at a park in Newbern, Tenn. with Tallon, when Chris pulled up in a Humvee and surprised his son.
  • Armed Robbery of BP station in Dyersburg, Tenn. (April 11,2014)
    Dyersburg Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Friday night at the Parkview BP station on Parr Avenue. According to Dyersburg Police Capt. Mark Moody, around 11:03 p.m. that night, DPD officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at Parkview BP, located at 1501 Parr Avenue. Once officers arrived at the scene, witnesses stated a black male wearing dark pants, a dark hoodie, and a blue and white bandanna wrapped around his face ran into the store, pointed a handgun at the cashiers and demanded money. The suspect was then reported as taking an undetermined amount of money and running out of the store northward towards Tickle Street. Moody added nobody was injured during the robbery. Anyone with information is urged to call 311 for the Dyersburg Police Department, or Crime Stoppers of Dyer County at 285-TIPS.
  • Dyersburg Police Chief Art Heun Responds To Recent Discovery of Human Remains
    On Tuesday, April 1, 2014, the Dyersburg Police Dept. and the Dyer County Sheriff's Office performed a joint recovery operation of human remains in a wooded area between South Main Street and the Bruce community. After the recovery, Dyersburg Police Chief Art Heun stated the remains that were found were "tentatively" identified as those of missing person Curtis Tyler, who was 27-years-old at the time of his disappearance.
