The 2012 Vicki Ballard Memorial Ride kicked off from downtown Trimble on Friday, Aug. 3. Bikers participating in the event were treated to a catered breakfast under the covered bridge in downtown Trimble. The group left Trimble together to ride to the Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, S.D. for the 72nd annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Along the way, riders picked up fellow motorcycle enthusiasts in Kansas City, Mo. and Sioux Falls, S.D. Finally, Full Throttle Saloon owner and reality show star Michael Ballard met the group with his camera crew for the final ride into Sturgis. Friday's ride was created in memory of Vicki Ballard, who lost her seven year battle with breast cancer in Aug. 2010. Many participants of the ride have felt cancer's touch on their own loved ones.
