Children and families participating in the library's Read Around Town event found story time from nearly 20 volunteers at the library, Bradshaw Insurors, St. Mary's Episcopal Church and City Hall. Opening Ceremonies, held in the new library, featured the Reader's Oath by Chancellor Tony Childress and the Read Across America poem from Pastye Jones.
The road was blocked off and a crossing guard was on hand to ensure that residents safely navigated their way between the locations.
