He was a retired assistant Vice President of Pilot Life Insurance Company, a commercial real estate appraiser, graduate of Dyersburg High School, and a Army veteran of World War II receiving a Bronze star and a Purple Heart.
A military service was held at 11 a.m. Feb. 11 at Our Lad of Grace Church. Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel Funeral Home in Greensboro, N.C. was in charge.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Martha Woodside Knox; two daughters, Martha Knox Calabria and husband, Beau, of Greensboro, N.C. and Barbara Knox Eschard of Houston, Texas; a son, Vincent E. Knox Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Winterville, Va.; a sister, Florence Knox of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Matthew Echard and Mitchell Echard, both of Houston, Texas, Brandilyn Knox and Sherilyn Knox, both of Winterville, N.C.; and a stepgrandchild, Brandon Lee of Greenville, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that any memorials be directed to LeBauer Cardiovascular Research Foundation, 520 North Elam Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27403.
