Francis L. Smith

Francis L. Smith, 84, of Newbern died Friday, September 6, 2002, at Methodist Healthcare of Dyersburg.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force at a Lt. Col. after 25 years of service in the Intelligence Department. He was a member of the Newbern First United Methodist Çhurch, Newbern Rotary Club, the Newbern Planning Commission and Dyersburg Moose Lodge. He was a former member of the Dyersburg Country Club at the Farms and a former member of the Board of Aldermen for the City of Newbern where he served for several years. He also served on several committees for the City of Newbern.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2002. Rev. Tommy Jowers and Bro. Kelly Lock will officiate. Johnson Funeral Home of Newbern is in charge of arrangements.
