Rev. Alton Allen 'Al' King

Rev. Alton Allen "Al" King, 70, of Newbern, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 at Baptist Hospital in Union City.

He was a retired minister and employee of Boyd Needle of Chicago, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, raised as a Master Mason at the Paul Revere Lodge in Chicago where he advanced to 32 degree Masonic Scottish Rite and rose to become a Shriner at the Al Chymia Temple in Memphis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ in Newbern with the Rev. Jerry Stafford, the Rev. Robert Singleton and the Rev. Mike Autry officiating. Burial will be in Yorkville Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home.
