Robert Q. 'Bill' Lewis

Robert Q. "Bill" Lewis, 83, of Tiptonville died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Ridgely Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Lewis, who served for 14 years as mayor of Tiptonville, was a farmer, a former Lake County sheriff for three terms, spent two years as Circuit Court Clerk and was a State of Tennessee Arson Investigator. For more than 60 years he was a member of the Tiptonville First United Methodist Church and Robert Henley's Men's Bible Class. He was a lifetime member since 1946 of Harmony Lodge No. 184, was a member of the local American Legion Post, was former president of the Civitan Club, and was a member of the Tennessee Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the West Tennessee Mayor's Association.

Services will take place at the Tiptonville First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Monday with burial to follow in the Tiptonville City Cemetery. The Rev. Edward Endsley and the Rev. Ralph Gunter will officiate. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be between 6 and 9 p.m. today at the church.
