He was retired owner of Jackson Rack and Display Company, a graduate of Dyersburg High School and attended the University of Illinois. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II as a signal man on the U.S.S. Durik and in the European, African and American campaigns. He was a charter member and served as a deacon of Meridian Baptist Church and later was instrumental with the building of Nashway Baptist Church, which is now Grace Baptist Church.
Services were Friday, Feb. 13 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Randy Latch officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Gardens.
