He was a retired from the military, serving in the U.S. Marines for 28 years. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a Purple Heart recipient and also received the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was president of the Brownsville District of the United Methodist Church and a lay leader in Brownsville and Dyersburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Archers Chapel United Methodist Church near Halls. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery near Ripley. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
