Dakota Wayne Thompson

Dakota Wayne Thompson, 12, of Newbern, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a student at Northview Middle School.

Services were at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Combs officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his parents, Louis and Gwen Thompson of Newbern; a sister, Britney Thompson of Newbern; his grandparents, Gwen Morris of Ripley, Louis Thompson of Savannah and Diane Kerlee of Slidell, La., his great-grandparents, Leonard and Kathleen Holbrook of Ripley and Willie May Johnson of Mobile, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Cliff Schexnayder; and his great-grandparents, Manny Johnson and Albert and Cleo Thompson; and his stepgrandmother, Cammie Thompson.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Fowler, B.J. Rushing, Shannon Rushing, Derek Smith, Rocky Henry and Eric Henry.
