He was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church, the Alpha Omega Sunday school class, a graduate of Memphis State University, where he received his master's degree, and retired from the state of Tennessee as a supervisor in vocational rehabilitation. He was past president of the Volunteer State Rehabilitation Association and recipient of its president's award for promoting people with disabilities, awarded the U.T.-Tie for work toward supportive employment services, and was on the board of the Jackson Center for Independent Living.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with the Rev. Glenn Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in the Malesus Community.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
