She was a retired employee of Parkview Hospital and GTE Sylvania, a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Criswell and the Rev. Tommy Stutts officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, J.W. Tharpe of Newbern; five daughters, Marigene Ervin of Collierville, Sandra Tharpe and Lorri Williams, both of Dyersburg, Susan Webb of Obion and Pattie Yarbro of Newbern; five sons, Billy Tharpe and Eddie Tharpe, both of Newbern, Jackie Tharpe of Smyrna, Jerry Tharpe of Fowlkes and Tommy Tharpe of Ripley; two sisters, Bettie Pogue of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and Nancy Price of Newbern; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be William Edward Parnell, Dr. Thomas Parnell, Buddy Blessing, Mark Pledge, Rand Godwin and Alton Winchester. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Price, John Ed Moore, Nelson Pope, Dale Pogue, Tommy Price, James Lyons, Alton Tharpe, Ron Davis, Edwin Carnell, Leo Wagenknecht, Larry Tharpe, Melvin Hollingsworth and Morris Dunlap.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to Dyer County Community Cancer Fund, c/o Carl and Jane Hicks, 3040 Viar Road, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
