He was a semi-retired attorney and Dyersburg city prosecutor who practiced law for 46 years. He was former assistant public defender and assistant District Attorney General for Dyer and Lake counties, county attorney for Lake County, owned a private law practice in Tiptonville, was the general counsel for Peoples Protective Corp., Chief Deputy Commissioner of Insurance and Banking for the state of Tennessee, attorney for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, associate general counsel for the regional counsel's office of the U.S. Treasury Department, a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and of the Dyer and Lake County Bar Association and was past president of Kiwanis Club of Lake County. He was a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Cumberland University and acquired postgraduate degrees form the University of Virginia School of Law and Samford University.
Services were Sunday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Dyersburg with the Rev. Jack Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
