Maurine Smith Pierce

Maurine Smith Pierce, 87, of Newbern, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at Ridgely Care & Rehabilitation Center.

She was a retired home economics teacher for the Dyer County School System, a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Newbern, attended the University of Tennessee Junior College, graduated from Peabody College for Teachers and received her master's from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, was a member of Dyer County Teachers Association and a member of Tennessee Retired Teachers Association.

Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Brother Olin Kern officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
