He was a former insurance executive and owner of Crump Insurance Agency, a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher of First Presbyterian Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp as an air operations specialist serving in the European, African and Middle East Theaters; he was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, former employee of the state of Tennessee Veterans Employment, past president of Insurers of Dyer County and Life Underwriters Association, past president of Booster Club, Governor of Dyersburg Moose Lodge, Master of Hess No. 93 Masonic Lodge and an active Shriner, a lifetime member of V.F.W. and other veteran's organizations and was an avid fisherman.
Services were Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Dyersburg with the Rev. Wally Bumpus officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
