Board OKs purchase of new ladder truck

Friday, March 24, 2006
In an effort to maintain the city's Class Three fire rating, the board of mayor and aldermen on Monday night voted to purchase a $480,000 ladder truck sized to fit the bays at the downtown fire station.

The truck will be included in the 2006-07 budget.

According to Capt. Rusty Hilliard of the Dyersburg Fire Department, the mid-mount, aerial ladder truck has a much lower profile than the city's current aerial platform truck. At 9-feet, 11-inches tall and 39-feet long, the new vehicle will fit into the 11.5-foot-tall bays of the station.
