Reelfoot spillway repairs delayed as state seeks proper permits

Repairs to the leaking Reelfoot Lake spillway did not begin on Monday, June 4, as planned.

Pamela Marshall, community relations officer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, reported Monday that TDOT still needs "to acquire appropriate permits before work can begin. Once we have the permits in hand then we will notify businesses and residents at least one week before work begins on the repairs."

Inquiries about the types of permits needed and the timetable to acquire them were not answered.
