Sole bidder gets award for gym floor at activity center

Covington Flooring Company of Birmingham, Ala. will provide a wooden floor for the gym in the Dyersburg Activity Center, winning the job with a bid of $78,706.

The company was the only one entering a bid for the project, which will be funded by a grant. The bid includes a maple floor, court lining and sockets for volleyball posts. The rest of the volleyball equipment will be bid separately.

Alderman Bart Williams made the motion to accept the bid at Wednesday's Recreation Committee meeting. The motion was seconded by alderman Dennis Moody and unanimously approved. The project will move ahead immediately in an attempt to complete it before the beginning of basketball season.
