Marguerite Alphin

Marguerite Alphin, 88, of Kenton, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell, Ga.

She was a registered nurse and a member of Cool Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Heath Harper officiating. Burial was in Cool Springs Cemetery in Cool Springs, Tenn.

Survivors include a daughter, Alicia Tollison and husband, Benjamin, of Alpharetta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Laura A. Malyjasiak of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, and Mackenzie Tollison of Alpharetta, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Malyjasiak and Natalie Hammond Malyjasiak both of Whitby, Ontario, Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac H. Alphin; a son, Joe Mac Alphin; and her parents, Cecil Hammond and Rex Ratledge Hammond.

Pallbearers were Mike Minton, Chris Minton, David Fowlkes, Mickey Robertson, Seigal Jackson and Ken Hatchett. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Minton and Wilbur Doran.

Mozelle Ozment Harness

Mozelle Ozment Harness, 93, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at Memphis Jewish Home.

She was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics sewing department after 36 years, the oldest member of Bryant's Chapel United Methodist Church, member of United Methodist Women, former pink lady at Methodist Hospital, member of Millsfield FCE, former Millsfield correspondent for the State Gazette, a former features writer for the Dyersburg Fabrics "Spinet", a 1934 graduate of Dyersburg High School and recipient of the gold basketball award as outstanding athlete.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Barry England officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Carter and husband Lt. Col. (retired) Gene Carter and Shelia Groshart and husband, Dr. Ken Groshart, of Germantown; a sister, Dixie Phillips of Dyersburg; six grandchildren, Scott Carter, Kent Carter, Tina Carter England, Kenny Groshart, Sarah Beth Groshart and Mary Ellen Groshart; and seven great-grandchildren, Scotty, Wesley and Zachary Carter, Carter and Haley England and Whitney and Shelley Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Frank Harness; her parents, DeWitt and Bertha Davis Ozment; two sisters, Hazelle Richey and Elizabeth Willis; and a brother, Moody Ozment.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Tee Willis and Gene Phillips.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
