Jan Deal, 65, of Dyersburg, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ and Jaycette's.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson. Burial will be in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home and at 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Chunky" Deal of Dyersburg; and a son, Joel Deal and wife, Rhonda, of Dyersburg.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Bishop, Jason McCarley, Danny Farthing, Nelve McFarlin, Dob Johnson and Ronnie Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Roy Hood and Steve James.

The family requests that any memorials be directed the Scleroderma Foundation, Att: Donations, 300 Rosewood Dr. Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.


Richard Allen Pilkington, 56, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

A memorial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ripley Church of God. Covington Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, LaQueda Payment of Ripley; two sons, Danny Pilkington of Ripley and Richard N. Pilkington of Covington; two sisters, Margie Newton of Dyersburg and Peggy Smith of Covington; four brothers, William "Bill" Pilkington, Herman Pilkington and Jerry Pilkington, all of Covington and Dan Pilkington of Alabama.


Marie Swanner, 83, of Halls, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 in Dyersburg.

She was a retired employee of Tupperware Corporation.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery near Halls.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Anita Powell of Dyersburg and Linda Olds of Friendship; a sister, Betty Moore of Memphis; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
