Grand jury issues 76 indictments

Wednesday, October 17, 2007
A Dyersburg man facing two murder charges was indicted last week and arraigned Monday afternoon in Dyer County Circuit Court.

Aubrey Tremaine Eisom, 29, 1067 Wabash St., was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Jeffery Scott McMullin, 32, and Cristin Lynn Robinson, 22. McMullin and Robinson were shot to death in a house at 1382 Upper Finley Road on Aug. 13.

Public Defender Jimmy Lanier was appointed to represent Eisom since the case could potentially involve the death penalty. Lanier is the only attorney in Dyer County certified to represent defendants charged with capital crimes.

Eisom waived a formal reading of the indictment and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is scheduled to appear in circuit court again Nov. 20.

The murder indictment was one of 76 true bills issued by a Dyer County grand jury on Oct. 8. Of those, four were straight indictments, meaning the charges were taken directly to the jury instead of being considered first in a lower court. Those "secret" indictments remain sealed until the persons named in them are arrested.

Two of the persons named in the secret indictments were arraigned Monday.

Dennis James Moody, 24, 610 Christie St, was secretly indicted on a charge of sexual battery. He is accused of touching the clothing covering a woman's intimate parts for sexual arousal or gratification without her consent on April 16.
