Ruth Wells, 91, of Finley, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at Oakwood Community Living Center.

She was a retired teacher's assistant and a member of Finley Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with the Rev. Charles Halliburton officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. today and at 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at Curry Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, John L. wells III of Kansas City, Mo. and James V. "Jimmy" Wells of Finley; two sisters, Evelyn Pritchett of Dyersburg and Doris Gorrell of Bartlesville, Okla.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Wells Jr.; her parents, Claude B. and Alice Jane Hodges Vincent; and three sisters, Rosa Arnold, Sylvia Mashburn and Alice Darling.

Pallbearers will be James Light, Will McBride, Jim Myers, Robbin Priest, Danny Joe Pritchett and Kevin Wansing.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to Finley Baptist Church, 9 Magnolia St., Finley, TN 38030.


George Rike Crumpler Sr., 92, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was retired as purchasing manager for Heckethorn Manufacturing and owner/operator of R&J Automotive Parts, a member of First United Methodist Church, a former lieutenant commander in the U.S Navy, PBY pilot and veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Dr. Phillip Cook and the Rev. Dossie Wheatley officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today at Curry Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Jordan Crumpler of Dyersburg; a daughter, Carol Lynn Story of Jackson; a son, George Rike Crumpler Jr. of Boone, N.C.; two sisters, Louise McDonald of Watkinsville, Ga., and Dot Fishburne of Quincey, Fla.; and three grandchildren, George Rike Crumpler III, Zachary Brian Story and Jacob Wyatt Story.

He was preceded in death by his parents, O.Z. and Mae Campbell Crumpler; and three sisters, Mary Burks, Frances Crenshaw and Katherine Cook.

Pallbearers will be George Cook, Lee Moore, Brian Story and Andy Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Ashley, Neil Dyer, Jack Haynes, Bill Kelly, Jack Todd, Dr. W.I. Thornton and the Vern Forcum Sunday school class.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to St. Jude Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.


Lenwood J. McLean, 63, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at his residence.

He was foreman for Taylor Construction.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern with Bro. Sean Sullivan and Billy Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Simmons McLean of Dyersburg; three sons, Jeffrey Len McLean and wife, Katie, Kenny Len McLean and wife, Cynthia, all of Dyersburg, and Randy Len McLean and wife, Cindy, of Newbern; a sister, Delma Allan of Jacksonville, N.C.; a brother, John Lee McLean of Clayton, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Calvin Daniel McLean, John Len McLean, Jessica Diane Williams, Kristen Renee McLean, Jessica LeAnn McLean, Blake McLean and Emilee Grace McLean.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniel and Jeanie May Swinson McLean.

Pallbearers will be Carl Simmons, Larry Hammonds, Jerry Simmons, Billy Sharp, Derek Finney and Jerry Hendry. Honorary pallbearer will be Bacle Lott.
