Billy Ray Owen, 69, of Shawtown Community, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 at his residence.
He was a retired employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 25 years, a member of Cobbs Chapel United Methodist church, A U.S. Army veteran, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War, a Mason in the Crystal Tyre Lodge No. 587, Woodmen of the World Hornbeak Lodge No. 196, the S.O.A.R. Goodyear Retirees and an avid card player.
The family will receive visitors at 5-7 p.m. today at Cobbs Chapel United Methodist Church near Shawtown. No services are planned. Dilday Funeral Home in Union City is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Thanna Gail Tone Owen; a daughter, Lagena Hill and husband, C.T., of Martin; two sons, Tyler Jay Owen and wife, Tamsey, of Alamo and Jeff Owen of Martin; a sister, Carolyn Sleeman of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandsons, Matthew Rosenthal of Frederick, Md. and Benjamin Rosenthal of Trimble; a step-granddaughter, Kayla Rogers of Alamo; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lorene Coleman Owen; and a brother, Robert Louis Owen.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to Cobbs Chapel Building Fund or the Cobbs Chapel Cemetery Association in care of Mamie Denton, 3623 W. Main St., Union City, TN 38261 or the charity of the donor's choice.
