Don Cooper Goforth, 61, of Waterford, Mich., formerly of Tigrett, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007.

He was a retired employee of General Motors and an Army veteran.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Funeral Home with Ramey Vetta officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Goforth of Waterford, Mich.; two daughters, Tracie Quinton and husband, Mark, of Newbern and Connie Moriarty and husband, Tim, of Waterford, Mich.; two sons, Don Goforth Jr. of Waterford, Mich. and Stephen Hoskins and wife, Tammy, of Williamsburg, Va.; a sister, Virginia Martindale of Tigrett; two brothers, Jay Greene and wife, Willie, of Tigrett and Larry Goforth and wife, Susie of Clarkston, Mich.; five grandchildren, Jenny, Katie, Timmy, Christopher and Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Jewell Goforth; a sister, Elizabeth Goforth; and a brother, Franklin Goforth.

Pallbearers will be Don Goforth Jr., Glenn Haley, Mike Smith, Addison Kirk, Johnny Keeling, David Stephenson and J.D. Buchanan.


Emmaz Hendrix, 89, of Unionville, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at her residence.

She was a retired employee of the dietary department of Methodist Hospital of Dyersburg after 19 1/2 years and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Survivors include four daughters, Jimmie Sue Tettleton, Vickie Hooper and Mary Kendall, all of Unionville and Glenda Davis of Dyersburg; a daughter-in-law, Rachel Hendrix of Halls; two sisters, Elsie Webb of Unionville and Frankie Taylor of McKenzie; two brothers, Cleveland Clendennin and Walter Clendennin, both of Unionville; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, George Thomas Hendrix and Curtis Roosevelt Hendrix; her parents, Walter and Eslie Clendennin; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Amy Fleming, Shane Hooper, Brandon Hendrix, Chad Millner, Buddy Kendall and Joey Tettleton. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Tettleton, Timothy Hendrix, Dalton Tettleton and Oren Tettleton.


Jerry Dewayne Mabry Sr., 63, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at Jackson Regional Hospital.

He was a retired supervisor for Thomas Industries and a member of East Dyersburg Pentecostal Church.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Rehoboth Cemetery in RoEllen with the Rev. Ron Lovins officiating.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Defosse Mabry; a daughter, Diana Lynn Lacy and husband, Mitchell, of Dyersburg; a son, Jerry Dewayne Mabry Jr. and wife, Regina, of Hayti, Mo.; four grandchildren, Ashley Welch, J.P. Mabry, Justin Gilmore and Ashley Craig; and four great-grandchildren, Keller Welch, Kaidan Welch, Trey Meador and Andrew Meador.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Lillie Mabry; four sisters, June Orman, Gladys Diggs, Inez Fields and Gwennie Garrison; and two brothers, James Mabry and Cecil Mabry.

Pallbearers will be Justin Gilmore, Ronnie Branham, Mitchell Lacy, Billy Patton, Patrick Branham and Dewayne Mabry.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.


Harold R. Smith, 75, of Tiptonville, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

He was a retired employee of West Tennessee Soybean Mill after 42 years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wynnburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Smith; two daughters, Pamela G. Ferguson of Trenton and Melissa G. Peal of Tiptonville; a sister, Mary Ann Mahulin of Farmington, Mo.; two brothers, Bobby Gene Smith of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Donald Smith of Obion; six grandchildren, Travis Peal of Obion, John Whitson and Misty Whitson, both of Tiptonville, Wendy Kersey of Troy, Jessica Hill of Jackson and Sunni Hall of Trenton; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his parents, Fred and Morie Smith; and four brothers, Bill Smith, James Smith, Robert Earl Smith and Kenneth W. Smith.

Pallbearers will be Barry Peal, Wade Kersey, Harry Ferguson, Travis Peal, Dwight Smothers, Quinton Lewis and Jeff Mathina. Honorary pallbearer will be Hershel Runions.

Dorothy B. Williams, 78, of Friendship, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was a homemaker.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Friendship Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Melton officiating. Burial will be in Bellevernon Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Elkins and husband, Harold, and Cindy L. Smith and husband, Donnie, all of Friendship; a son, Frankie Williams and wife, Linda, of Friendship; two sisters, Lela Brooks and Barbara McGarity, both of Friendship; a brother, Bill Holland of Tigrett; five grandchildren, Brad Elkins and wife, Holly, Heather Williams, Daniel Smith and wife, Brittany, Chipper Williams and Ben Burton; and a great-grandchild, Kristina Criswell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Williams; a son, Ricky Williams; and two brothers, Edward Holland and Ray Holland.

Pallbearers were Daniel Smith, Brad Elkins, Tim McGarity, Monte Walker, Ben Burton and Jason McGavok. Honorary pallbearers were Chipper Williams, Kevin Holland, Heather Williams and Kristina Criswell.
