Virginia "Miss Sis" Holt, 89, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
She was a retired cafeteria manager for Finley and Lenox Schools in the Dyer County School System for 39 years, a member of Finley Baptist Church and known by all school children as "Miss Sis".
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. James Branscum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at 12:30-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane Heathcott and husband, Don, Betty Tickle and husband, Dan, all of Dyersburg and Sandra Hankins and husband, Gary, of Tupelo, Miss.; a sister, June Myer of Iowa; eight grandchildren, Jeff Heathcott, Tommy Heathcott, Lynnette Stevens, Shane Connelly and Nickie Jowers, all of Dyersburg, Dino Heathcott of South Carolina, Lisa Maas of Algood and Ginny McCormack of Alcoa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar "Chipper" Holt; her parents, Albert and Vera Killett; a sister, Mae Stringer; and a brother, James Killett.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Heathcott, Tommy Heathcott, Shane Connelly, Dino Heathcott, Jeff Heathcott II and Danny Joe Pritchett.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Community Cancer Fund.
James Moody Jr., 63, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at his residence.
He was a domestic worker.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Ross United Methodist Church in Dyersburg with the Rev. Eric Richerson officiating. Burial will be in M.C.C.O. Cemetery in Newbern. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at 6-8 p.m. today at the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacquelyn Moody and Gwendolyn Moody, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; a son, Frederick Moody of Milwaukee, Wis.; 10 sisters, Alice Harris of Smyrna, Ga., Dorothy Pryor of Memphis, Sally Moody Mitchell and Yolanda Harris, both of Dyersburg, Mary Moody, Shirley Fitzpatrick, Juanita Reynolds, all of St. Louis, Mo., Varetta Braden of Rock Island, Ill., Sharon Harrell of Union City and Joan Ansah of Nashville; and two brothers, Aaron Moody of Dyersburg and Jack Fitzpatrick of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Jimmy Ernest Poole, 56, of Dyersburg, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Murray City Church of God. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Poole of Humboldt and Steven Poole of Dyersburg; three sisters, Peggy Holley of Alamo, Cindi Thomas of Gadsden, Elizabeth Champagne of Ripley; a brother, Robert Holley of Smyrna; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ernest and Margaret Francis Poole.
Janice Kent Smith, 55, of Knoxville, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was a medical laboratory technician.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Smith of Knoxville; her father, Dorsey E. Kent of Dyersburg; a sister, Jo Lynn Cournia of Dyersburg; and a brother, David K. Kent of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Grissom Kent.
Bobby J. Summers Sr., 71, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at his daughter's residence in Newbern.
He was a retired employee of Colonial Rubber Works, former truck driver for Vincent Distributors, a Baptist and an Army veteran.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with he Rev. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobette Woods and husband, Roger, of Newbern and Nancy Fitts and husband, Tony, of Jackson; a son, Bob Summers Jr. and wife, Melissa, of Dyersburg; a half sister, Ann Williams of Knoxville; and four grandchildren, McCray Wiliams Cally Woods, Will Fitts and Summer Fitts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Damon Summers.
Pallbearers will be Roger Woods, Tony Fitts, Will Fitts, Bobby Summers Jr., Jim Brown and Adam Williams.
George R. Tune Jr., 79, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was a regulator for the Department of Agriculture/State of Tennessee and a member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Scott Owen officiating. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery in Troy.
The family will receive visitors at 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Tune of Dyersburg; two daughters, Anita Myrick and husband, Bud, of Murray, Ky. and Cheryl Caulk and husband, Van, of Bartlett; three stepdaughters, Mary Girton and husband, Philip, of LaVergne; Margaret Bahou and husband, A.J., of Rockville, Ma. And Angie Kelley and husband, Mike, of Lakeland; a son, George R. Tune III and wife, Doris, of Naperville, Ill.; a sister, Martha Nell Muse and husband, Ed, of Springhill, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and George Rufus Tune Sr.
