Steven J. Alsup, 81, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Newbern, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at St. Anthony Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was a retired electrician, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. John Knapp officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Elbridge.
The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Alsup of St. Louis, Mo.; four daughters, Denise Diane Ashley and Judith Hedge, both of St. Louis, Sandra Potter of Union, Mo. and Laura Sheddler of Houston, Texas; two sons, Stanley Alsup and Steve Alsup, both of St. Louis; four sisters, Ruby Johnson of Hazelwood, Mo., Ida Keith and Opal Ladd, both of Newbern and Mable Rodgers of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Jean Ballentine Britt, 77, of Halls, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 in Dyersburg.
She was an employee of Universal Electrical and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Halls.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Halls Cemetery.
The widow of Odis Ballentine and Carl Britt, survivors include three daughters, Carol Woods of Dyersburg, Romona Rhoades of Henning and Sherri Smith of Halls; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
