Jewell Isabell Furr, 94, formerly of Finley, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at Methodist Germantown Hospital in Memphis.
She was a retired employee of the General Sessions Court in Memphis, volunteer Pink Lady at Methodist Hospital and a member of the United Methodist Church in Whitehaven.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 3, 2008, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis with the Rev. Harry Matthewson officiating.
Survivors include a host of special nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rogers and children, Betty Gardner and children, Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Morris and children, Mr. and Mrs. Hall Mosher and children, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Penniston and children, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Furr and children; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Walter G. Furr; her parents, Thomas Larkin and Mary Emma Pritchett; two sisters Virginia Louise Moore and Marye Rebecca Penniston; three brothers Nathan Clark Pritchett, Otha B. Pritchett, Dorsey Fitzhugh Pritchett, and a nephew William Gerald Moore.
Jeanette "Red" McCullough, 91, of Newbern, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at Wesley Care Center in Dyersburg.
She was a retired employee of Wedgewood Stove Company and Leslie Salt Company in Newark, Calif.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. George Butler officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors at 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, James H. "Hack" McCullough of Newbern; a daughter, Sandra Cadinna of Escalon, Calif.; three sisters, Madeline Decostal of Freemont, Calif. and Emily Loba and Lucille Middaugh, both of Newark, Calif.; a granddaughter, Kim Lawrence of Escalon, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Kryatal Lawrence, Kayla Lawrence and Dustin Lawrence, all of Escalon, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur A. and Mary Andrade Silva; and four sisters, Elizabet Milani, Lena Calderia, Hazel Calderia and Mayme Fearn.
Pallbearers will be Frank Reed, Larry Dunaway, David Adcock, Bill Adcock, Jerry Pierce, Larry Madalon, Jerry Coleman and Larry Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hardin.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 310 East Main St., Newbern, TN 38059.
Russell Joseph Spicer, 53, of Union City, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at Jackson Regional Hospital.
He was a Baptist.
Services wills be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City with the Rev. Robert Davis officiating. Burial will be in Stanleys Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Spicer of Union City; three sisters, Carline Wheatley and Ellen Stewart, both of Troy and Wanda Quillen of Union City; two brothers, Harold Spicer of Dyersburg and Greg Spicer of Murray, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gardner Russell and Pauline Sampson; and a sister, Peggy Pierce.
Pallbearers will be Arnold Wheatley, Larry Mitchell Jr., Elvis Stewart Jr., James Spicer, John Spicer and Jamie Spicer. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Graham, Trent Cary, Darryl Scarbrough and Robert Graham.
