House fire reignites, destroys residence

Thursday, January 10, 2008
An interior fire thought to have been extinguished Wednesday night in a Richwood Road home reignited this morning and almost burned down the house next door.

According to the Dyer County Sheriff's Department reports, Tabitha Allen reported at 8:50 p.m. she had found smoke coming from the living room area of her house at 203 Richwood Rd. As she walked around the house to survey the damage, she reported hearing a loud pop and the kitchen window blew out.

Finley and Lenox volunteer fire departments arrived and extinguished the fire.

At 3:36 a.m. Thursday, a neighbor alerted deputies the fire had reignited. By 5:30, the home was completely engulfed, with the flames melting the vinyl siding and damaging the roof of the house next door.
