Demario Trean Nelson, the infant son of Brian and Tanya McCrite Nelson of Ridgely, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were held Thursday at Citizens Cemetery in Tiptonville with Elder Stanley Montgomery officiating. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
In addition to his parents, survivors include two sisters, Aneka Benson and Biannca McCrite, both of Ridgely; a brother, Patrick O. Robertson of Ridgely; and grandparents Sam and Myrtle McCrite of Ridgely, and Lucy Nelson of Dyersburg.
Kerry L. Riddick, 61, of Ridgely, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Persian Gulf War.
Graveside services were held Friday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyersburg. Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Maggie Marie Purvis, 70, of Troy, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at her residence.
She was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics, HECO and Dover, worked as a caregiver and was a member of Sun Swept Baptist Church in Union City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. James Kinsey and the Rev. Larry Hitesman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors from 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Purvis Robinson of Troy; three sons, Gary Lynn Purvis of Ripley, Paul C. "Beaver" Purvis of Trenton and Randy Joe Purvis of Dyersburg; a sister, Paula Sweat Hatch of Dyersburg; three brothers, Terry Wayne Sweat and Ricky Allen Sweat, both of Dyersburg, and Billy Joe Sweat of Sterling, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul B. Purvis; her parents, Earl William and Hazel Dixon Sweat; and two brothers, Bobby Doyle Sweat and Robert Earl Sweat.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hatch, Hunter Hatch, Michael Harris, Garland Evans, Tommy Rice and Brian Rice.
Irene Geneva "Snoody" Vestal, 89, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired cook from the Dyersburg City School System.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Free Holiness Church, where she was a member, with Bro. Lynn Drumwright and Bro. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyersburg. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Sue Shults of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Mary Martha Turner of Dyersburg, Fay Riley and husband, Reed, of Fowlkes, and Brenda Joan Andujar and husband, Juan, of Adjustas, Puerto Rico; nine sons, Thomas Vestal and wife, Faye, of Finley, Wayne Vestal and wife, Carolyn, Ray Vestal, James Vestal and wife, Ima, Tim Vestal and wife, Valerie, and Duran Vestal, all of Dyersburg, Dwayne Vestal and wife, Brenda, of Lemay, Mo., Lanny Vestal and wife, Brenda, and Terry Vestal and wife, Cathy, all of Fowlkes; two sisters, Lillian Parrish and husband, William, of Dyersburg and Dovie Pettie of Murfreesboro; a brother, Paul "Bud" McPherson and wife, Jeweline, of Dyersburg; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee "Duck" Vestal; a son, James Andrew Vestal; her parents, Lemuel and Pherba Simpson Bizzle; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Vestal, Danny Hilliard, Bill DeSpain, Jeremy McNutt, James Simmons and Bobby Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
