Modern Woodmen lends aid to Halls tornado victim

Friday, February 1, 2008
Local Modern Woodmen of America members recently provided assistance to Christy Davis, a Halls resident who recently lost her home to a tornado.

The Ripley Modern Woodman Camp donated food and clothing to Davis as a part of the organization's Care and Share program.

Care and Share is a nationwide program that offers Modern Woodmen camps across the country the opportunity provide up to $250 of basic life necessities to individuals and families in need in their communities. Each year, members from over 600 camps purchase and donate thousands of dollars worth of food, clothing and more.

"Whether a family needs household items after a natural disaster or other crisis, or a shelter or food pantry needs more supplies to help families, Modern Woodmen members can help through this annual project," said Lewis Mitchell, local Modern Woodmen Camp Secretary.

Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States. The organization's Ripley camp provides a number of volunteer service and social activities for local members.
