Ruth Adams, 73, of Brownsville, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at Haywood Park Community Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Eaton. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Survivors include a sister, Marine Bowers of Gates; a brother, DeSoto Adams and wife, Lavern, of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Leroy Vinson and wife, Gladys, of Chicago, Ill.


Gene Franklin Davis, 80, of Halls, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Ripley.

He was a vice president employed by Kraft Food Ingredients Group and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Poplar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Halls. Burial will be in Gates Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Brandon Davis; and a brother, Orville Lloyd Davis of Arcadia, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gene F. Davis Jr.; and his parents, O.L. and Cordie Garrett Davis.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.


Betty Joyce Peek Webb, 78, of Waynesboro, Va. formerly of Dyer County, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at her residence.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Stuarts Draft, Va.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. B. Failes Jr. and Rev. Harley Bender officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, James "Bill" Webb; two daughters Rosaland "Roz" Webb of Waynesboro, Va; and Donna Joyce Webb of Pompano Beach, Fla.; her mother, Kathleen McCloud Peek of Dyersburg; sister, Nancy Craig of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Keith A. Kessler and wife, Trish, of Lynchburg, Va., Kevin W. Kessler of Charlotte, N.C.; Gratia Bobbitt and husband, Miles, of Raphine, Va.; Martia Hevener and husband, Barry, of Staunton, Va.; David Showker IV of Staunton, Va.; five great-grandchildren Rachel Kessler, Tori Kessler, James Bowen Bobbitt, Olivia Bobbitt and Luke Hevener.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca A. Webb; her father, Tom Peek; a sister Jean Fleming; and two brothers, Donald J. Peek and Tom Peek Jr.

Pallbearers will be Wood Halterman, Ronnie Rankin, Bob Burgener, Ricky Lowry, Randy Metje, Tom Robertson and Eddie Jenkens. Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Metje, Cindy Lowry, Jean Traxler, Janet Houff, and Sara Halterman.
