The amount comprises the employee campaign, the company support grant and a contribution from the Sara Lee Foundation's disaster fund.
"I am proud to say that Sara Lee is among the many businesses that demonstrate their support for United Way," said Eugene Smith, plant manager for the Newbern plant. "As a group, you can accomplish far more than any one of us can accomplish individually."
"Sara Lee is setting the standard for supporting the community, a measure the United Way uses as an example to other industries," said Edwin Hays, interim CEO for United Way of West Tennessee. "We are extremely proud to be partners with such an outstanding company and look forward to a continued, successful relationship."

Can someone in Dyersburg tell me exactly what the United Way has done for them? I would rather give the money to the homeless.
