Dorothy Renee Hawkins Burse, 79, of Highland, formerly of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at St. Margaret Mercy North Campus in Hammond, Ind.
She was a homemaker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home in Schereville, Ind. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Clyde Burse; a daughter, Claudia Heisner of Highland; a son, Christopher Burse and wife, Katherine, of Gastonia, N.C.; a sister, Mary F. Westmoreland of Lake Station, Ind.; a brother, Roger Hawkins and wife, Flossie, of RoEllen; two grandchildren, Conrad Heisner and Luke Heisner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Yateman and Mary O. Burnham Hawkins; and two sisters, Yavonnia Phillips and Lucrecia Ann Westmoreland.
Opal Jackson, 98, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Wesley at Dyersburg Nursing Care.
She was a former employee of Dyersburg Fabrics, a member of Finley United Pentecostal Church, RSVP Quilting Club and an avid seamstress.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Ellingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Bobbie Gibson and husband, Joe Gibson Jr., of Dyersburg; a son, Jerry Hunter Jackson and wife, Ann, of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Joe Gibson II of Dyersburg, Jane Joslin of Athens, Texas, Sonya Culpepper of Forth Worth, Texas, Connie Wheat of Burlison, Texas and Keith Jackson of Grandbur, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren, Jennilyn Gibson, Joe Walker Gibson IV, Steve Gibson, Brenda Gibson, Jane Katherine Joslin, April Jackson, Sheryse Meadors, Hunter Meadors, Jon Paul Wheat, Kamela Wheat, Katherine Ann Joslin and Jansen Joslin Henderson; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Jackson; her parents, Cullen C. and Pearl Tatum Call; a sister, Lucille Borden; a brother, Chester Call; and a grandson, Bubba Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Tidwell, Jere Tucker, David Greer, Billy Winstead, Claudie Gaskins and Eddie Rice.
Stella Mae "Mammie" Phillips, 74, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at her residence.
She was a retired factory worker.
Services were held March 9 at Tucker Street Church with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin Evans of Dyersburg; a son, Terry Wright and wife, Rhonda, of Newbern; a sister, Della Webber of Dyersburg; a brother, Danny Webber of Florida; six grandchildren, Carol Beth Price and husband, Michael, Whitney Clark, Sarah Evans, Blake Evans, Terry Wright II and Christopher Clark; and five great-grandchildren, Karlie Price, Ashley Price, Bailee Price, Cara Pickard and Brandon Sweat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wright; a daughter, Carolyn Sherron; her parents, Hosea and Etta Webber; two sisters, Henrietta Perry and Joretta Gilliam; and four brothers, Clifford Webber, Ronnie Webber, Leon Webber and Richard Webber; two granddaughters, Jennifer Wright and Amanda Snow; and a great-grandson, Michael Dylan Price.
Pallbearers were Bruce Beaird, Terry Wright II, Christopher Clark, Michael Price Jr., Michael Dial, Larry Dial. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Evans, Sarah Evans, Karlie Price, Ashley Price, Bailee Price, Brandon Sweat and Cara Pickard.
