Dottie Ann Floyd, 29, of the McNairy County community of Bethel Springs, is lodged in the Dyer County Jail on a $200,000 bond. She is charged with solicitation of first-degree murder.
According to the arrest warrant and court documents, Floyd met with the agent, who was posing as someone who would commit the murder, in the east parking lot of the Dyersburg Mall at about 10:30 p.m. She made what is described in the affidavit as "partial payment" of 120 Hydrocodone pills to commit the act.
Floyd also is charged with drug possession.
Floyd's former husband, Christopher Floyd, was issued an emergency custody order in McNairy County Gen-eral Sessions Court on Friday for the couple's two minor children.
Floyd is scheduled for an appearance in Dyersburg City Court on Monday.
When she was booked into the Dyer County Jail at the TBI's behest, intake documents detail Floyd said she was on several different prescription medications and asked to see a mental health specialist.
She later declined the request, records note.

edsbrat You say you know Dottie? Then you must not know Christopher. Cause I believe he is a loving father and a hard worker as well. You don't know the terrible times he had with Dottie either. So before you make accusations and talk about stuff that you know nothing about. Then, maybe you should find out the truth too, Before posting nasty things about someone that you only heard Dottie talk about..
Well for all you people with nasty comments about Dottie you must not know her. She is a loving mother and a hard worker who had a terrible time with this man and to top it all off she was in a serious car accident not long ago that required her to be on several meds. and have surgeries. She had severe head injuries that caused her to have memory problems and functioning abbilities. So before anyone makes accusations or talks about stuff they no nothing about they should find out the truth. No one says she should walk away, but this woman trully needs and deserves help.
I can't believe no one has commented on the story on why she wanted him killed.
You know if Dottie's Supporters thought be any way she was SO INNOCENT! Then why are all of them trying to dig up TRASH to make The Floyd's look so bad? Things that are so far from the TRUTH, that they are about to fall off the EDGE of their seats trying to get more LIES to tell. All the lies about the children and losing custody of a child. I mean come on GROW UP. These children had nothing to do with the decision Dottie made to have Christopher killed. If you wanna talk TRASH about someone then why don't you talk trash about Chris and leave the children out of it.

Hey, I was just reading that they asked Mr. Floyd on the stand, if there was any reason why Dottie would have been that upset, his response was that one of their relatives had been raped by one of his relatives. Is he not claiming that family member on the stand??Since you are all about the facts, Would you care to shed some light, and did you really lose your child, you missed answering that one to...I just want the facts here. I used to live there, and have family and friends still there. Just concerned here about people trying to make something look like its not, and 2 sides and you have it going on keeping each others story straight. She can share facts only to.....Just facts though please, we have been lied to enough...

Oh good, we have another clown that has joined the circus. We don't have to defend ourselves because we didn't try to hire someone to shoot an ex-husband in the head while he was sleeping. Hope the paper has a story about the hearing from Friday, would not want the FL people to miss that one!!! NO this is not the stepmother, the DA advised the Floyds not to make comments about the case. I did hear it's going to be a good one though!!!!

Family Truth if your custody case is so easy why are you even going to court on this ? Is it true you have lost one daughter already?Im just wanting the facts of whats going on in the Volunteer..In the paper it said the Judge of Mcnairy Co. ordered you and your husband to go and get the girls for their mother to see them,is this true? Honeygal How do you know she was proven to be a unfit mother did you read those court documents too or is this just something else you have heard for Dottie. I believe you should gets facts straight before you post things that you have no idea what your talking about.
Dottie may still be in jail but that's beside the point....Is your pedophile cousin chomping at the bit to get another chance with the same little girl or is the other one his next victim.... Why don't you ask him since he is so close to the girls now!!!!!

Birdlover62 These children are in no way in DANGER. Cousin has never been charged with anything. The father did not file any papers wanting to dis own the oldest child. This is only by Dottie's word of MOUTH!
Whoa, 2sides. I guess I hit a nerve there. It's not fun to hear your relatives called ugly things like "negligent" and "pedophile", is it? I can sympathize, I have relatives who could be called some ugly stuff too, and I'd probably come to their defense just as vehemently.
Of course, there's one sure way to keep from being called such things, and that is to not neglect your daughters or let your pedophile cousin hang around them. You can stand on your statements that I am only telling Dottie's side to the story as much as you want, but there are court documents to back up everything I've said.
Oh, and birdlover, he was only granted custody after she was arrested. The papers he filed to disown his stepdaughter were part of the reason she went off the reservation and pulled this stupid stunt.

The Gazette has deleted some of my comments, probably for legal reasons, but I've said what I needed to say to clarify the half-truth of the original article, and I feel like the discussion has become somewhat pointless.
Well I a feel sorry for the kids. They are the one's who are in danger, if the father has a cousin who is a pedophile.I hope the mother really gets the help she needs. I will keep her in my prayers. How can the father dis-own the oldest daughter but get custdoy of her? That sounds a little strange!I will keep the mother and both girls in my prayers for their saftey.

2sides, don't you worry about what I do and don't know. I saw the papers, I saw Dottie's reaction, and I have heard Chris's side to the story plenty of times. It just doesn't make me feel sorry for him. I don't blame you for standing by your family, but since the Gazette story makes her look like a homicidal drug addict (neither of which is accurate), I felt the need to let the readers know that she was dealing with a horrible situation. I don't know what I'd do if my daughter had to spend time at a house where a proven pedophile would be hanging around, I might lose it too.
And Mel, I already commented that I thought she lost her mind over what was going on. I think it's obvious that her plan wasn't well thought out. In truth, I'm defending Dottie here because a lot of half truths were flying around, but I'm angry with her too. Those beautiful daughters of hers are now left to Chris's care...not a good thing by the way. He doesn't even want the oldest around. I realize that Dottie is to blame for this, and for that I am angry with her, even though I stand by my theory that this was all just a cry for attention.
Dottie is very sick, and even if she eventually gets better, this decision has cost her and her daughters more than she can ever get back. Everybody needs to remember that a family has been torn apart here...and for Dottie's girls, it has been replaced with a far inferior one featuring a negligent father and a pedophile cousin.

Since you have so much information on how it all went down and to know she was setup through a friend of McNairy County Sheriff Dept. Your right a FINE FINE example of West Tennessee Law Enforcement at it's best. Just to update everyone, since the Gazette story was out of the loop even before it was posted, Dottie has not even been arraigned and is in a mental health facility. It was clear from the beginning that she lost it last week when she was served with papers from her ex-husband's lawyer wanting to disown the oldest child so that he didn't have to pay child support anymore. She was already stressed over the fact that the restraining order put on the ex-husband's pedophile cousin had been lifted without her even being called to the hearing. She was afraid for the safety of her teenage daughter, who the cousin has already assaulted in the past, and it's clear that this was just a cry for help. She is off her rocker, but she is not a killer, and she is not a drug addict. I personally think the drug angle to the Gazette story was out of proportion to the facts of the case, and that it represents some pretty trite journalism.
Dottie wanted to get caught. I think it's pretty obvious, since she set up the meeting with the "hitman" through a friend at the McNairy County Sheriff's Dept. (A fine, fine example of west tenn. law enforcement at its best) Sometimes, when people snap, they do things to get attention that they would otherwise not ever do.
It's my understanding that Dottie wasn't alone during this transaction with the TBI. Where is her partner in crime? Why isn't he in jail too? Didn't he used to be in law enforcement? Of course this is just hearsay, but it is very interesting. As for Dottie, I think it's sad for her and her children that her life was so low that she thought of doing something like this. As usual, the children are the ones that suffer from all this. We all need to think of them and keep them in our prayers.

TO SETHERFREE, I have to say to you that no matter what has happened to her she is not GOD and she has no bussiness taking someones life. When we die is up to GOD and not us people. So unless she some how is God then she should be in jail and not out here walking around free.....

first of all she tried to take someones life and there for she deserves every thing she gets.that mary women got off with murder now every women thinks they can do the same thing atemted murder is not right if she felt in danger then she should have went to a shelter they have them every where.i hope she don't get away with this.
Has anyone thought of the consequences if Dottie had successfully hired a hit man to kill her ex-husband. Our family is blessed we are not at a funeral now burying a father and stepfather to 5 innocent children. Here's another scenario, what if the children were with him and one of them were accidentally killed or saw there father killed, the youngest is just 2 years old. Is that justified! They have been divorced for over 4 yrs! The system didn't fail her, she failed her children. They are the real victims not Dottie. If she is capable of hiring a hit man, then she is capable of lying to justify her actions.
To setherfree - You're exactly right! You shouldn't judge until you've heard the whole story. You work with Dottie & heard her side but have you ever met or talked to her ex-husband and his family? If not, then you haven't heard the whole story & you should practice what you preach.

no one knows what was going on with her for her to do what she did, i worked with Dottie and she has alot of people who are behide her 100% because we all know the system failed her and her daughter when they needed them the most. so don't judge till you know the whole story. Dottie we love you and we will be praying for you.
someone needs to find out why she wanted to kill the man... he could have threatened to take her children away or he was beating her or anything. She cant be too big of a junky if she was giving her drugs away to have her husband killed. If she couldnt commit the murder than she isnt too cold. But dyersburg will lock her up and throw away the key how many women do you see in the courtroom unless they are getting coffee or typing. oh wait you might see one or two if they are related to a man of importance.
