Michael Wayne Walker, 31, 149 Newbern-RoEllen Road, pleaded guilty in Dyer County Circuit Court to robbery and two counts of theft of property in excess of $500.

On each of the theft charges, Walker was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison, with the sentences being served concurrently with each other and consecutively to the robbery sentence. He was accused of taking a television from Wal-Mart on Aug. 6 and another $890 worth of goods from Wal-Mart on Aug. 9.
A number of other cases were resolved in circuit court on March 4. These included:
* Ray Livingston, 38, 324 Jones St. in Newbern, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated assault and felony failure to appear.
On the assault charge, he was sentenced to three years in prison. He is accused of cutting Jerry Wilkes' lip with a box cutter on Sept. 23. Wilkes received seven stitches on the 2-inch gash.
On the failure to appear charge, Livingston was sentenced to two years in prison.
Those two sentences are to be served concurrently with each other but consecutively to two prior sentences, giving him an effective sentence of six years.
* Jessica Byrd, also known as Jessica McCallum 25, 219 St. John Ave., offered a "best interest plea" to a reduced charge of robbery. She was one of four persons originally indicted for the June 1 aggravated robbery of Tony Ivy Jr. Byrd denied that she had been involved in planning the robbery, but she knew that her co-defendants planned to testify against her. Ivy was struck in the mouth with an ax handle and robbed of $27.
Byrd was sentenced to six years in prison, with all but six months suspended. She is to serve the remainder of her sentence on supervised probation.
* Jerry W. Pate, 27, address unavailable, pleaded guilty to promoting methamphetamine manufacture. He was sentenced to three years in a community corrections program. He was accused of purchasing or possessing more than 9 grams of pseudoephedrine, which is used to manufacture methamphetamine, between Jan. 8, 2007, and Feb. 1, 2007.
* Terry Wayne Taylor, 40, 57 Chris Road, pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge. He is to be sentenced on April 22. He is accused of hitting his wife, Beth Taylor, on the jaw on July 14. She suffered a broken jaw, loosened teeth, bruises and contusions.
* Bobbie Ann Crowell, 22, 8157 Wolfcreek Road in South Fulton, pleaded guilty to promotion of methamphetamine manufacture. She is scheduled to return to court on April 22 for sentencing. She is seeking judicial diversion, but that can't be decided until a pre-sentence report is completed. She is accused of purchasing or possessing more than 9 grams of pseudoephedrine between Jan. 21, 2007, and Feb. 19, 2007.
* Roderick Glen Spain, 22, 915 Fair St., was placed on pretrial diversion on a charge of possessing more than half an ounce of marijuana with intent to sell. He claimed responsibility for marijuana found in a reputed gangster headquarters during a raid on July 5.
* Travis M. Byrd, 72, was placed on pretrial diversion on a charge of filing a false or fraudulent insurance claim in excess of $1,000. He reported his 2006 Chevrolet Colorado truck stolen on Aug. 6 and got an insurance payment from Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Co.
* Charges against Nicholas D. Haymon, 27, 911 Scott St., were not prosecuted at the request of the victim. Haymon had been charged with aggravated burglary, vandalism in excess of $1,000 and vandalism less than $500 after he allegedly entered a woman's home last summer and damaged her belongings.
* An aggravated assault charge against Mark Thompson Jr., 1933 Cumberland, was not prosecuted after he paid restitution to the victim. He was accused of causing serious bodily harm to Axel Holder on April 7, 2007.
