Tom Powers, a certified professional chauffer from California, who has driven celebrities including Bill Clinton, Tommy Lee Jones, Tom Jones and Arnold Schwarzenegger, will be the instructor for the Chauffer Training class at DSCC.
Powers will teach participating students with good driving records the etiquette and rules needed to become a professional chauffer in a major city. The class will be held from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, April 3 through May 8. The fee is $65.
A motorcycle safety course will be offered on weekends in April, May and June for residents interested in learning to ride a motorcycle, getting a motorcycle license, saving money on insurance or improving their motorcycling skills.
Instructor Gerald Thompson will offer the class from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., on April 26-27, May 30 through June 1, and June 28-29. The fee is $195.
Basic obedience training for dogs and their owners will allow area dogs to learn commands including sit, sit-stay, down, and down-stay, as well as how to walk on a loose lead and return when called. Participating dogs must be at least 8 months old and be up to date on vaccinations and shots, including rabies. The bordatella shot is highly suggested, but not a requirement. Choke chains or chain collars, a 6-foot cotton or nylon leash and an abundance of dog treats are also required for each class.
The class, taught by instructor Annette Thomas, will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, April 1 through May 6. The fee is $65.
Instructor Clayton Hayes will teach amateur photographers how to preserve treasured family photographs on the computer screen in the digital photography course. The class will cover the basics fundamentals and operating skills of the cameras brought in by the students, as well as address composition, exposure and control of lighting.
A digital camera is required for the class, which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 25 through April 15. The fee is $75.
