Now, 18-year-old Latandria "Rudy" Kimble faces a likely indictment for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Lake County General Sessions Court Judge Danny Goodman held a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon and determined Wednesday afternoon that there was enough probable cause to bind the case over to the action of a grand jury. The grand jury is scheduled to meet July 7.
Kimble reportedly used a car to pin Andrea "Angel" Pierce, 24, to a carport wall on March 2. She was fatally injured in the attack.
Another 17-year-old girl, who had been fighting with Kimble most of the day, was also injured. The 17-year-old jumped out of the way as Kimble's vehicle approached.
Kimble's attorney, Tim Boxx of the District Public Defender's office, argued for a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter. A charge of first-degree murder requires that the death be premeditated. Boxx said he doesn't believe the state has shown that the fatal assault was premeditated. Instead, he said, it occurred during a moment of excitement and passion, which would exempt it from "premeditation."
Assistant District Attorney Renee Creasy disagreed. She argued that the path Kimble took over the curb, across the yard and between a tree and mailbox showed her intention. Kimble set a course toward the 17-year-old girl whom she had threatened to kill several times that day, Creasy said.
Three witnesses were called to testify Wednesday: the 17-year-old victim, a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent and a woman who was in Kimble's car when it crushed Pierce.
The 17-year-old, who has a history of fights with Kimble, described a series of encounters on March 2. It reportedly began that day with Kimble striking the teen's mother. The 17-year-old said she received a number of text messages on her cell phone, taunting her and demanding that she fight. At one point, Kimble drove past the teen-ager and swerved toward her. The teen said she swung a baseball bat at the car and broke the windshield.
Kimble and the teen relayed messages through others and through text messages. "She told me I was going to die tonight," the teen said, recalling one of Kimble's threats.
Instead of reporting the threat to law enforcement officers, the teen said she decided to handle the situation herself. "We usually handle it in the streets," she said.
Courtney Jones of Ridgely said she was with Kimble when Kimble and the teen decided they would fight with weapons on Bishop Street.
Jones said witnesses broke up the fight after they realized too much blood was being lost.
The 17-year-old said she was armed with a baseball bat; Kimble reportedly was armed with scissors. The teen said she dropped the bat during the fight, but Kimble kept the scissors in her hand throughout the fights.
The teen said she suffered cuts to her stomach, chest, arms and head. One gash on the back of her head required stitches.
TBI Special Agent Nathan Bishop said he was told Kimble received at least two blows to the head with a baseball bat and she had injuries that would suggest that's true.
Once the fight stopped, the teen said she went inside a friend's house to get a drink of water. When she went back outside, Kimble was preparing to leave, but drove over the curb, through the yard, directly toward her. The teen escaped, but Pierce didn't. Kimble covered her face and ran away, the teen said.
Jones' version was slightly different. She said she was in Kimble's car as they were preparing to leave. Kimble and the teen began arguing again, just before Kimble drove across the yard.
District Attorney General Phil Bivens asked Bishop to investigate the murder, and he arrived later that afternoon. The car and several other items, including some scissors and a fire poker, are now undergoing tests in the TBI crime lab, Bishop said.
Witnesses told Bishop that Kimble was leaving when she stopped her car and began arguing again with the 17-year-old. Kimble reportedly returned to the car and drove toward the teen, Bishop said. Bishop said he believes premeditation could likely be proven by looking at the path the car took, the lack of skid marks and the fight before the murder.
Judge Goodman acknowledged that he hears only a portion of the evidence during a preliminary hearing and that he wasn't sure if Kimble will ultimately be found guilty of premeditation. But, he said, enough probable cause was presented to send the case to a grand jury.
"This is a senseless death," Goodman said. "We've got a loss of life here just because (the parties involved decided) 'we're going to take care of this ourselves.'"

You tell them Renee Creasy because somebody getting pinded by a car aginst a house was intended to kill.
Shelton
I don't think your response is appropriate and should be removed.
this is a sad senseless tragic death. Premeditated, I don't agree. I think it was an spontaneous impulse act of rage that stimulated from the fight. Just b/c you tell someone out of anger that you are going to kill them doesn't mean you are actually going to do it. People say stuff they don't mean all the time and in my opinion, this doesn't count as premeditated but should be one factor to demonstrate that state of mind she was in at the time of the murder. Love can make you crazy. They should call the guy in the love triangle to the stand at the trial. And Shelton you should be ashamed of yourself and I agree that comment should be deleted.
i think it was premeditated because she meant to hurt or kill the 17yr old when she drove up over that curb.i've been in fights before and some where i have gotten in a vehicle and left afterwards, never did i even think about running them over with my car.
SHELDON for your information it wasn't all black people that was invovled! the 17 teen year old is a beautiful white american girl!
I want to know why Shelton's response has not been removed.
I don't see a Shellton post. Refresh your page and see if its still there.
There is no way that guy was worth this! What is wrong with you people? Rudy is just a little hot head with a bad attitude and life in prison is what she needs. Wasn't there a mature person anywhere around who could have called the cops? Stupid people, absolutely stupid! Hell, everyone involved in this should serve time...get them off the streets of Ridgely!
Of course it was premeditated murder. Perhaps not hours or days beforehand, but when she got in the car and drove it toward the girl, she was meditating murder, so at the instant of impact it was premeditated. What's wrong with kids when they have to resort to barbaric means to settle differences? Don't they have a conscience? Adults should teach their kids from infancy throughout their youth the difference between right and wrong and taking responsibility for their actions and that they can't always have everything they want, including boyfriends. If these girls had waited for their passions to cool, they might have realized this boy wasn't worth fighting over. Now one is dead and the other facing prison. It's so uncalled for.
God bless Sheldon. He or she doesn't know any better.
Let's see now ! 17year old and, 18year old. Baseball bat and, scissors. Meet here to fight .Knowledge of right and wrong. WHO is setting the examples of todays youth ? Sounds like someone was premeditated to hurt someone with or without the vehicle.Where does cross this line adjust for stupidity.Remember when it was open fisted fighting? You took an ass whooping or you gave one .Then you got over it .Better think of the examples you set for tolerating violence, and the punishments that hopefully will curb future acts of violence. For your actions this will be your punishment for the wrong choice and the actions you decided to accept.
White trash, Black trash, green trash whatever!! You don't have to look far from these girls to see where they get their ignorance. The white girls mom was out earlier that day arguing with Kimble and got that face slapped too!! So what do you expect her offspring to do. If you are raised by an ignorant mother you usually get an ignorant daughter. It is sad that "Angel" lost her life over such stupidity. BOTH girls are at fault for the loss of "Angels" life. They both need to be in jail for this - maybe their conscience will be their worst prison. Treat others how you want to be treated!!
Wow where were the adults? All this going on in public and no one called the cops. Dumb. Sounds like heat of passion 2nd degree murder. Like someone else said one person dead another one facing long prison time.
Win2kadm,
The police we called to the Bishop St apartments several times that day. They came, but never got the situation under control.
The Police were never called to Bishop Street before the incident happened, Ignoranceisbliss.
i think it was premediatated. i also think that it was a very senseless death. i was informed that the law was called several times that day and they never responded. that sounds about the law here in lake county. if they would have thought sum black guys were over ther selling drugs they would have been there in the nick of time. we have no law in this county. that is also a big problem. things just really got out of hand that day and like the teen said they handled it themselves in the streets and there is your problem. they need some parental guidence both the 17yr. old as well as the girl in jail. it is a very sad story and a very senseless death. all we can do now is pray that the two that are still alive, just pray that they grow up and change their style of living.
I dunno what anyone knows, but this whole thing still bothers me everyday. Angel, and I, and some of our other friends would kick it and chill and now, she's gone. Does Rudy truly understand that she took a great, beautiful and lively girl, daughter and friend out of this world and away from the ppl that loved her the most??
